Photo of the day, July 8, 2011

I typically don't do two different photos of the day, but before heading to a wedding rehearsal and a Little League softball game I came across a few young ladies skinny dipping in a pond in Franklin and I couldn't resist snapping a photo.

Photo of the day, July 8, 2011

There's a reason why I do this job and the joy the Northwest Little League softball team showed after its win over Essex in the 11-12 softball win over Essex on Friday exemplifies that reason.

Photo of the Day

Sometimes a photograph doesn't say a thousand words.

For example, in the photo below it appears the umpire has just knocked out a runner with a right cross in the 9/10 Little League Baseball game in St. Albans. The runner was indeed out, and a bit shaken up from a collision at the plate, but he bounced right back up and went on to pitch brilliantly.

Still, this photo was just a little too cool not to share despite the deceptive context in which it was placed.

For more photos from various Little League tournaments featuring teams from St. Albans, Milton, Fairfax and other communities in Northwestern Vermont, check out my photo website www.coldhollowphoto.com.

More game galleries from Wednesday, Thursday and the District 3 11/12 softball championship game on Friday will be posted on Sunday.

Photo of the day

I snapped this sequence at the BFA-St. Albans-St. Johnsbury girls softball semifinal earlier this week.

The moral of this photo story is that if you are going to go for the ball, keep your eye on it, don't jump and if you do make sure you have a six-pack and a tan.

(OK, I'm one to talk, but you won't see me jumping for a foul ball anytime soon!)

Photo of the day

I take thousands of photos each sports season and sometimes one stands out from the rest. At the Richford-Stowe softball game on May 17, I snapped this frame of Stowe pitcher Amanda Wood. I particularly like the glove in this shot.
