Shake-shake-shake ... shake-shake-shake ... shake your ziti!

The Enosburg boys basketball team hosted Lake Region on Thursday night and although the game didn't go well for the Hornets, there was one local group that was a winner - the foodshelf in Enosburg.

The game was billed as Shake Your Ziti Night and people who brought a box of pasta to the game were allowed use it as a noise-maker at the game (usually noise makers are prohibited due to VPA rules) and then they were given the option of getting back a portion of their admission price.

Enosburg athletic director - and all-around good guy - Chris Brigham said 75 boxes or pasta were donated, along with $50 in cash. The idea was the brainchild of Enosburg boys basketball coach Steve Jette, who said the event was held at his college.

Game on ... finally!

After what seems like forever, my schedule has finally cleared so I can cover a game tonight.

I'll be taking the tussle (I love that word!) between the Lake Region and Enosburg boys in the 'Burg at 7 p.m.

Before that, I'm taking a quick trip to Swanton to take a couple of team photos of the Bakersfield Elementary teams - they had some kids missing on team photo day on Tuesday.

I shot the 5th and 6th and 7th and 8th grade teams and I must say - especially considering the age group - these are some really well-behaved kids - super polite and respectful. It was a pleasure to work with them.

I've also been signed up to do the MVU boys and girls hockey teams' photos at the end of next week. Hopefully, I won't take a dinger on the ice like I did back when I shot the MAHA photos. My wrist still isn't right from that fall! Oh well, serves me right for being a dummy and thinking a rubber mat would somehow adhere to slippery ice. At least some folks got quite a show!

When I shot the Enosburg middle school team's photos on Monday I shot some photos of the BFA-St. Albans and Enosburg girls basketball game - those should be up in the days to come - remember to check this link for the list of photos on the site.

If you want to see what we've been dealing with weather-wise up in Franklin, check out these photos I took yesterday.

Ice storm in Franklin photos

I just posted a gallery of photos taken in Franklin today (Jan. 6) on my website. We are having quite the little localized ice storm. But you'll see that for yourself if you click here.

Caption contest

Have a good caption for this photo of a Richford player chugging what appears to be maple syrup, but what is more likely water? Please leave it in the comment section below.I took this photo Saturday at the BFA-Fairfax-Richford boys basketball game.

I know there's a great caption for it, but I can't think of it.

The closest I could come was: Instead of steriods, athletes in Vermont have a different way of 'juicing' before they play.

If you can think of a better one (and it shouldn't be THAT hard) please add it into the comments below.

My favorite caption will be posted, along with the photo, on Examiner.com in the next couple of days.

Three out of four ain't bad

Well, I didn't make it to four games on Saturday - but it wasn't for a lack of effort.

The only game I missed was the MVU-Spaulding girls hockey game, which was postponed.

The other three games - Richford at BFA-Fairfax boys basketball, CVU at Essex girls hockey and Rice at BFA-St. Albans boys hockey - are all on my website.
