Job opportunites

OK friends, I need your help. My photo business is going through a growth spurt and the next two months we have more work than Sandy and I can tackle alone. If you, or someone you know, is interested in making some part-time income working for us at Cold Hollow Photography, email me (shawn@coldhollowphoto.com) - please don't reply on FB. We have a need for several people with different skill sets to help us at our shoots recording image numbers and doing customer service, with data entry, with photo-shopping and we are considering training a photographer to work as a second shooter on some events, as well. No experience is needed for most of the positions and some of the work can be done from home in your spare time. These are above-the-table temporary, part-time positions. Please email us regarding the jobs you might be interested in. Photo-shoppers will need their own computer and must have some experience with the program. These jobs will all pay well and could lead to more steady employment at some point.

Photo of the day, July 8, 2011

I typically don't do two different photos of the day, but before heading to a wedding rehearsal and a Little League softball game I came across a few young ladies skinny dipping in a pond in Franklin and I couldn't resist snapping a photo.

Photo of the day, July 8, 2011

There's a reason why I do this job and the joy the Northwest Little League softball team showed after its win over Essex in the 11-12 softball win over Essex on Friday exemplifies that reason.

Photo of the Day

Sometimes a photograph doesn't say a thousand words.

For example, in the photo below it appears the umpire has just knocked out a runner with a right cross in the 9/10 Little League Baseball game in St. Albans. The runner was indeed out, and a bit shaken up from a collision at the plate, but he bounced right back up and went on to pitch brilliantly.

Still, this photo was just a little too cool not to share despite the deceptive context in which it was placed.

For more photos from various Little League tournaments featuring teams from St. Albans, Milton, Fairfax and other communities in Northwestern Vermont, check out my photo website www.coldhollowphoto.com.

More game galleries from Wednesday, Thursday and the District 3 11/12 softball championship game on Friday will be posted on Sunday.

Far Post action photos at Nordic Cup info

I shot almost every team in Far Post Soccer at Nordic Cup over the weekend. Congrats to all teams for a competitive showing - I was very impressed with your play.

At the bottom of this blog post are links to all of the galleries of all of the games I shot. They are listed in order of the age group of the teams from youngest to oldest. If I have labeled a gallery wrong, let me know and I'll rectify the situation.

Any photo in any of the galleries is available to purchase either as an instant download or as a print. The instant downloads are just 99 cents each and are downloaded right to your computer and are large enough to print as an enlargement up to 8x10 without losing image quality. They will be uncropped.

If you order prints, which start at $1.99 for a 4x6, I will crop and edit the image and make sure it looks its' best. We also offer merchandise through the website like T-shirts, mouse pads, mugs, etc ... Any print or merchandise will be mailed directly to you. You do need a credit card to make the purchase. All prints are done through my website partner www.smugmug.com - they are a national company that works with thousands of small businesses like mine and are extremely reputatible and their quality, in my opinion, is unsurpassed in the industry.

That said, I do not have time to edit the 5,300 photos I took this weekend. This means that some photos are out of focus, have obstructions in them, etc ... Also, some are shot from a distance. You can zoom in to see the quality of the photos on the website and if they look sharp, you can still get a good print even if the subject matter is small in proportion to the entire image.

Here's an example.

Here's the unedited version of a photo.

Here's a cropped, edited version of the same photo. As you can see, just because the subject of the photo is not close in the uncropped version, the quality will be very good when you crop it. Questions? Email me at shawn@coldhollowphoto.com or call me at 782-5317 - Thanks for visiting my site - Shawn Corrow

Here's the list of the galleries I shot this weekend - most have around 200 photos, some have less (especially the U-16 girls second gallery when I showed up minutes before the end of the game, unfortunately. Some have more and some teams have more than one gallery. I tried my best spread myself as much as possible, but I could only do so much, I'm afraid.)
